Wilkes-Barre Record, 8 October, 1951

William J. Shiber, 57, a partner of the Shiber Construction Company, who 
died Saturday night at his home, Harris Street, Fernbrook, will be buried 
Wednesday. He had been ill for two weeks. The funeral will be held at 1:30 
p.m. from the Luther M. Kniffen Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street. Rev. 
Gordon Oplinger officiating. Internment will be in the Hollenback Cemetery.
   
Mr. Shiber was born in Wilkes-Barre, the son of late William and Minnie 
Shiber. He was prominent in the Rolling Hill Section for many yeras. The 
Shiber Construction Company, with offices on McCarragher Street, was founded 
by his late grandfather, James Shiber, and is being operated by menbers of the 
family. Mr. Shiber moved to Fernbrook 12 years ago. He was a member of the 
Grove Street EUB Church.
   
Surviving are his widow, the former Lulu Coles; a daughter Mrs. Karl 
Landmesser, Dallas; brothers Charles and Fred, Wilkes-Barre; George, Jersey 
City; Harold, Long Island, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Karl and Barrie 
Landmesser, Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
   
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight 7 to 10 and Tuesday 3 to 5 and 
7 to 10 p.m.
