Thomas J. McLain RD 1 Jermyn, Dies

     Thomas J. McLain, RD 1 Jermyn, formerly of Olyphant, father of two school 
principals, Thomas, Spencer, N.Y., High School, and Eugene, Horseheads N.Y., 
Junior High School, died this morning at 8 A.M. in Mid Valley Hospital 
following a lengthy illness. 
     Born in Pittston, son of the late Patrick and Mary Kelly McLain, he 
resided in Olyphant for 40 years before moving to Jermyn about 10 years ago. 
     A veteran of World War I, Mr. McLain was a former custodian at the 
Olyphant Postoffice and an employee of Raymond Henry Post, American Legion of 
which he was a member and a past commander. He was a member of St. Patrick's 
Church. His wife, the former Miss Mary Fadden of Olyphant, died a number of 
years ago. 
     In addition to his two sons Mr. McLain is survived by two daughters, Mrs. 
Mary Yarosh, Binghamton, N.Y., and Mrs. Donald Smith, RD 1 Jermyn, with whom he 
resided: 10 grandchildren: two brothers, Owen F., Chicago, ILL, and Michael F., 
Pacchiom, Ariz. and two sisters, Mrs. Bridget McHugh, Washington, D.C. and Mrs. 
Mary Holloran, Scranton. 
     The funeral will be from the Sweeny Funeral HOme, 307 Lackawanna Ave. 
Friends may call tomorrow from 7 to 1 P.M. and thereafter from 2 to 5 and 7 to 
10 P.M.
