ACCIDENTALLY SHOT HIS WIFE
Mrs. Isaac Jenkins Dies in Pittston Hospital from a Wound Inflicted by Her
Husband
Christmas was a sad day for Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Jenkins, of Duryea. The husband
was in the back yard of his home practicing shooting with a flobert rifle when
two shots entrered the wooden casing of the summer kitchen. Mrs. Jenkins was
in the kitchen at the time, preparing Christmas dinner, and one of the bullets
entered her abdomen. With a scream she sank to the floor unconscious.
Assistance was soon at hand and she was carried to her room. A doctor probed
in vain for the bullet. The woman was then removed to the Pittston hospital,
where she died at midnight Thursday.
Deceased was formerly Miss Kate Phillips and lived in Duryea all her life.
Besides her husband four children survive. Mr. Jenkins is heart broken over
the terrible affair and cannot be consoled.
