Jacob L. Cronise
  Jacob Luther Cronise, a native of Frederick county, and for years a prominent
resident of Roanoke, Va., died at his home in that city on Saturday, last,
after an illness of ten days of acute indigestion, aged 67 years. He was a son
of Jacob and Anne Cronise, deceased, and was born at Lewistown. In 1868, the
Cronise family moved to Botetourt county, Va. Making his home on the family
farm until grown to manhood, Mr. Cronise left for Roanoke when that city
contained but a few thousand in population, and he saw it grow to a large
city. After following various trades, he became manager of the City Ice
Company, and held this responsible position for the past 16 years. He was
prominent in business and church circles in Roanoke. Surviving are his widow
and two daughters.  Two brothers and two sisters also survive, as follows;
Webster N. Cronise, Mrs. Chas. Williams and Mrs. Rebecca Brewbaker, of Roanoke,
VA., and A. C. Cronise, of Frederick.
  Funeral from the Roanoke Lutheran church on Monday afternoon at 3.30, the
services being among the most largely attended of any held in the city in
years, which attested to the esteem and respect held for the deceased.
Interment was made in the Roanoke cemetery.
