on Little Pipe creek. In 1869 Mr. Birely purchased the home farm.
After 17 years on the farm, he removed to Ladiesburg, where he engaged in
the merchandise business. After building Mr. Birely took into partnership his
two sons, changing the name of the firm to A. D. Birely & Sons. Mr. Birely
was at one time president of the Board of Directors of the Woodsboro and
Double Pipe Creek Turnpike Company. In politics Mr. Birely was a Democrat.
