  Leader Vindicator 
  Harvey G. Shafer, for many years a well known and respected farmer of Red Bank
  township, Armstrong County, but more recently a resident of Kittanning, died at
  his residence there, 227 Frankin Avenue, Monday, February 26, 1940 at 4:45 p.m.
  following a short illness. He was 73 years of age.
  	
  Mr. Shafer is survived by his widow, the former Elizabeth Shick, six daughters
  and five sons; Mrs. Charles Kunselman, Mayport; Mrs. J. D. Christy, Echo; Mars
  Harry Dinger, Rural Valley; Mrs. Roy Booher, Kittanning; Mrs. Randal Weaver;
  Worthington; Mrs. Clair Hepler, New Bethlehem; Harry C. Shafer, Kittanning; Boyd
  D. Shafer, Apollo; Paul P. Shafer,  Timblin; Charles T. Shafer, Strattanville
  and Clair C. Shafer of New Bethlehem.  One sister, Mrs. J. D. Sedwick, one
  brother, Wallace H. Shafer, both of Kittanning, 35 grandchildren and 6
  great-grandchildren also survive.
  	
  Mr. Shafer was a member of the Evangelical church of Mudlic and of the Hawthorn
  lodge, I.O.O. F.
  	
  Short funeral services, private, were held at the home this (Wednesday)
  afternoon at 1:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.K. Morgan, pastor of the Baptist
  church of Kittanning.  Further services were held from the Pierce church at 3:00
  o'clock, with the Rev. Tyson, pastor of the Pierce church assisting Rev. Morgan,
  followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.
