  'ALEX' GLENN, 74, IS DEAD
  End Comes Unexpectedly to Retired Railroad Express Messenger
  
  Alexander Glenn, 74, retired railroad express messenger, died unexpectedly 
  late last evening at his home, 720 S Street. Mr. Glenn had lived in Atchison 
  for more that 50 years.
  While in failing health for the last 10 years, Mr. Glenn had been able to be 
  up and around. Monday he had returned from Alton, Kas., where he had been 
  visiting the family of his son C.K. Glenn.
  "Alex" Glenn was born in Armstrong county, Pennsylvania, August 29, 1855 
  (sic). He spent his boyhood there and when a young man joined a party of 
  friends to come west. He came direct to Atchison and shortly after his arrival 
  he went to work for the old Pacific Express Co. For 39 years Mr. Glenn worked 
  as a messenger on the Central Branch through all of he changes and merger of 
  the original Pacific company. He retired in 1920.
  In 1885, Mr. Glenn returned to his native Pennsylvania to marry Miss Clara 
  Kirkland, a boyhood sweetheart. He brought hi bride to Atchison and they have 
  made their home here since that time.
  The death of Alx Glenn ha more than local significance. It has saddened 
  friends and acquaintances along the entire Central Branch from Atchison to 
  Stockton. During hi long years in the railroad service. Mr. Glenn was held in 
  the highest esteem and respect by all of hi business associates and friends.
  Alex Gleen's home life was exemplary. He was a model husband and a kind and 
  loving father.
  Surviving i his widow; one son, C.K. Glenn, Alton, Kas.; and two daughters, 
  Mrs. John Clingan, 720 S street; and Mrs James Conlon, 425 R street. Another 
  daughter, Mrs Elizabeth Lowell died in 1922 at he home in Kansas City, Mo.
  Six grandchildren, included among whom is Glenn Lowell, Kansas City, Mo. also 
  survive.
  The body will be removed tomorrow morning from the Sawin & Douglass Funeral 
  parlors to the residence, 720 S street, where funeral services will be held at 
  2 o'clock Monday afternoon. burial will be in Mt. Vernon cemetery. Front Page
