   DAYTON, July 3. - Oscar, the little eight year old son of 'Mac' Beatty of 
  near Belknap, met with an accident on Wednesday morning that will make him a 
  cripple for life.  He was following his father, who was mowing a cut across a 
  field to another one which he was going to cut, and when near the gate, Oscar, 
  in his eagerness to help cried out 'Wait, papa, I will open the gate', and 
  jumped right across the center bar of the mowing machine and was caught by the 
  knives.  There was a cut in the heel and the foot was severed from the leg at 
  the ankle, and also two cuts above the ankle.  Dr. G. S. Morrow was called and 
  amputated the leg about one-third way to the knee.  The boy is getting along 
  nicely.  It is almost a miracle that the boy did ........ (unreadable)
