  Valley News Dispatch, Tarentum, Pa.
  W. LAWAVE BARBER, formerly of Vandergrift.   W. LaWave Barber, 85 of Grove 
  Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, Died Monday in United Community Hospital, 
  Pine.  Born Oct. 31, 1911, in Vandergrift, she lived in the Grove Manor the 
  past year.  Previously, she lived in Slippery Rock.  Mrs. Barber taught 
  private piano, voice and organ lessons, and was the organist at Slippery Rock 
  United Methodist Church before retiring.  She was a member of Slippery Rock 
  United Methodist Church, Slippery Rock Camera Club and a former member of the 
  Mendelsohn Choir, Pittsburgh, and the Slippery Rock Women's Club.
       Survivors include a son, Walter F. Barber of Liberty Township; three 
  grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her 
  husband, Walter D. F. Barber, in 1982; an infant son, John M. Barber, and her 
  parents Ellis Calhoun and Hulda Williams Beatty.
       Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 1:30 until 
  services at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., 
  Slippery Rock, with her pastor, the Rev. H. Rand Edwards, officiating.  Burial 
  will be in North Liberty Cemetery, Liberty Township.  The family suggests 
  memorial contributions be made to her church.
