HERRING  DEVRIES
  A wedding of more than ordinary interest to Carroll county society was 
solemnized yesterday at noon at Freedom Methodist Episcopal church, South.  
The contracting parties were Mr. D. Roby Hering and Miss Carrie Devries, of 
Freedom, Carroll county.  The groom, a business man of Sykesville, is the 
eldest son of Mr. Francis L. Hering, of Finksburg, and is a nephew of State 
Comptroller, Joshua W. Herring.  The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. 
John O Devries, a farmer of Freedom.  The bride was given away by her brother, 
Mr. Harry Devries, and was attended by Miss Cordelia Jones, of Libertytown, 
Frederick county, as bridesmaid.  Carroll Hering, brother of the groom, acted 
as best man.  Rev. J. R. Andrews, of Arlingston (Baltimore county) Methodist 
Episcopal church, South, officiated, assisted by Rev. Harry Febrey, of Freedom 
Methodist Episcopal church, South.
