All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/bedford/ ________________________________________________ Peter CLAYCOMB Bedford Gazette/24 July 1908 Peter Claycomb was born near Osterburg in May 1818 and died at the home of his son Daniel at Cessna on July 14, 1908. He was a son of Conrad Claycomb, who died about 50 years ago, and was the last of a family of six boys and two girls. On March 28, 1840 he was married to Hannah Stambaugh to which union six sons were born: Phillip of Fremont, O., Conrad of Campbellsville, Ky., William of Queen, Daniel of Cessna, Frank of Troy, O., and Jonas of Brewerton, N. Y. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren. On November 23, 1882, his first wife, who was the mother of all his children, died; later he was married to Delia Hoenstine, who died April 5, 1895. Early in life he connected himself with the Reformed church from which he later transferred his membership to the St. Clairsville Lutheran church of which he was a faithful member to the time of his death. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. H. Diehl, assisted by Rev. J. H. Zinn, at the St. Clairsville Lutheran church on July 16. Interment in the old cemetery.
