CHAIMBERLAIN - A terrible accident happened some days ago at Six Mile
Run, Bedford county, Philip Chaimberlain was employed in what is known
as the Scott Colliery, at present operated by Messrs. Langdon & Scott.
He entered the cage for the purpose of ascending the shaft, when it
seems that his head by some means, was caught between the beam
supporting the platform and the cage, and was literally torn from his
body. His head was found sticking on an iron pin in the cage, whilst
his lifeless body fell to the bottom of the shaft.

The Register, Hollidaysburg, Pa., Wednesday, February 22, 1871
