MISS MARGARET S. CARPER

  Miss Margaret S. Carper, one of Woodbury township's oldest and most
respected residents, died at her home at 4 o'clock Saturday morning,
following a few minutes illness due to plural pneumonia. She was the
oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob S. Carper, and was born in
Woodbury, June 12, 1833. She was a life long member of the Church of
God in Woodbury, and was a willing and faithful worker for the cause of
right. She was most helpful and loving neighbor, and a host of friends
are left to mourn her death. She was especially devoted to her
delicate sister, Miss Elizabeth, the two having been inseparable since
childhood. Miss Carper was the fifth in the family of twelve to die.
The following brothers and sisters survive: Jacob, of Franklin, Neb.;
D. S., of Roaring Spring; W. H., and Jacob, of Taylor Township, Samuel
and Mrs. Mary Kauffman, of Woodbury township, and Miss Elizabeth, of
Woodbury. The funeral services will be conducted in the Church of the
Brethren in Woodbury at 10 o'clock, Tuesday morning. Interment will be
made in Carper cemetery.
