BRUMBAUGH.

  Mrs. Francena Straley Brumbaugh, widow of Jacob S. Brumbaugh and the 
mother of County Treasurer D. S. Brumbaugh, of 3020 Broad avenue, this 
city, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Mercy hospital, death 
being caused by gangrene of the foot.  Mrs. Brumbaugh has been an 
invalid for several years, suffering from the effects of a stroke of 
apoplexy, but recently gangrene developed and she was removed to Mercy 
hospital where an operation was performed in the hope of prolonging her 
life, but without avail.  She was born Jan. 14, 1845, at New 
Enterprise, Bedford county and was married to Jacob S. Brumbaugh in 
March 1869.  She is survived by the following children: D. S. 
Brumbaugh, of this city; Frank S. Brumbaugh, of New Enterprise, Bedford 
county, and Mrs. Annie Nesplerade, of this city.  She is also survived 
by the following step-children: John F. Brumbaugh, Allison P. Brumbaugh 
and Mrs. J. A. Good, of New Enterprise; J. P. Brumbaugh, of Roaring 
Spring, D. P. and M. P. Brumbaugh of this city.  She was a lifelong 
member of the Church of the Brethren and a consistent Christian woman 
and a kind and loving wife and mother.  The remains may be viewed at 
the home of D. S. Brumbaugh, 3020 Broad avenue, this evening from 7 to 
9 o'clock.  Brief services will be conducted at the house tomorrow 
evening at 8 o'clock and the body will be taken to New Enterprise on 
Wednesday morning, where services will be conducted in the Church of 
the Brethren at 10:30 o'clock.  Interment in the cemetery at that 
place.
