DAVID D. BRUMBAUGH 
   
David D. Brumbaugh, pioneer merchant, postmaster, huckster and shoe repairman 
at King, Bedford county, was found dead in his bed at 5:30 a. m. Tuesday, by 
his grandson, Ira Brumbaugh, 9 years old.  He had suffered a stroke of 
apoplexy. Mr. Brumbaugh was a son of George and Elizabeth Daugherty Brumbaugh
born near Clover Creek, April 15, 1855, the youngest of a family of 21
children.  He was married to Miss Keturah Ickes Gochenour 53 years ago at 
King.  Mr. Brumbaugh was first merchant and first postmaster and for many years 
was proprietor of a shoe repair shop at Altoona. He was a member of the
Church of the Brethren at Claysburg.  Surviving are his wife, three daughters 
and four sons:  Mrs. Margaret (Mangus or Mengus), Edward and William Brumbaugh, 
King; Mrs. Lillie Barthlow, Monessen; one brother, Isaac Brumbaugh, in Ohio.  
Funeral service will be held today at 2:30 p. m. in the Union Church at King, 
in charge of the Rev. C. L. Cox, pastor of the Claysburg Church
of the Brethern, assisted by the Rev. C. E. Berkey. of the Lutheran church.  
Internment will be in the church cemetery.
