MRS. EMMA SHOENFELT BIDDLE,

Widow of J. S. Biddle, a member of one of the pioneer families of
Bedford county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Woodcock,
1818 Sixth avenue, this city, Saturday evening at 10.15 o'clock, death
being due to a complication of diseases incident to advanced age. Mrs.
Biddle was born at Woodbury, Bedford county, Nov. 25, 1847, daughter of
Joseph and Nancy Shoenfelt. On Dec. 25, 1867, she was united in
marriage with J. S. Biddle, well-known and life-long resident of
Loysburg, who died in April of 1919. Mrs. Biddle spent her entire life
in Loysburg. When but 16 years of age she united with the Methodist
church at that place and was one of the most active and devoted members
of the congregation. She greatly appreciated the fact that she had the
honor of being the oldest member, not in age, but in years of church
membership. She was much esteemed in the community by all who knew her
for her Christian virtues and loving kindness. Survivors are the
following children: Emory L. of Loysburg, Mrs. J. D. Ritchey of
Lancaster, John A., Canoe Creek; Roy L., Youngstown, O.; Homer S.,
Warren H. and Mrs. J. M. Woodcock, and the following brothers and
sisters: Mrs. Isaac Bayer, Loysburg; George Shoenfelt, Mann's choice;
John K. Shoenfelt, Duncansville; David K. Shoenfelt, Youngstown, O.;
Ira M. Shoenfelt, Lock Haven; Mrs. David Miller, Spruce Creek, and Miss
Mary Shoenfelt, Hollidaysburg. The body was taken to her late home in
Loysburg this forenoon. Funeral services will be held in the Methodist
church, Loysburg, tomorrow morning at 10:30 o'clock; interment in
Loysburg cemetery.
