MRS. AMANDA JANE BERKIHISER

Of Woodcock valley, near Saxton, died at her home yesterday morning at 3 
o'clock after several months' illness.  She was born Dec. 18, 1872, at 
Woodcock valley on a farm near where she died, the daughter of Jacob and Eva 
(Sprankle) Eicher.  She is the wife of David W. Berkihiser, a retired 
Pennsylvania railroad brakeman, and had lived in Altoona for a number of 
years until nine years ago when they returned to Woodcock valley upon Mr. 
Berkihiser's retirement.  She and Mr. Berkihiser celebrated their golden 
wedding anniversary last July 24.  Surviving are her husband, one daughter, 
Mrs. Gertrude Schaal, at home; one sister, Mrs. Clara Allison of Woodcock 
valley; four grandchildren, Chalmers Schaal with the United States army in 
Germany, David, Lewis and Lenore, at home; and two great-grandchildren.  
Mrs. Berkihiser was a lifelong member of the Evangelical and Reformed church 
of Saxton.  Friends are being received at the home.

BERKIHISER - Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Jane Berkihiser of near 
Saxton, formerly of Altoona, will be held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 
2.30 o'clock in charge of Rev. A. C. Thompson of Saxton.  Interment in 
Woodcock Valley cemetery, Saxton.  Friends are being received at the home.
