Killed at Cresson Last Night.

  J. F. Beard, a brakeman on the Middle division, was struck by an
empty engine going west, near Cresson, last night and instantly killed.
The accident took place between 9 and 10 o'clock, but the body did not
arrive in this city until early this morning when it was brought down
on a caboose and given into the hands of Undertaker Lafferty who is
preparing it for burial. The unfortunate man stepped from the caboose
of his train to the west bound track without noticing the rapid
approach of an empty engine and was struck with the above result.
Deceased was a single man and has relatives living at a small place
known as Maury's mills, some ten miles from Bedford. The company is at
present trying to reach them and make arrangements for the disposal of
the body.
