  REV. JESSE R. AKERS. - Died at his home in Everett at 9 o'clock on Wednesday 
morning Dec. 7th.  The deceased was born in Bedford county in 1844.  His 
grandfather Uriah Akers came to Bedford county from Loudon county, Va.  He and 
his wife were two of the seven members who established Methodism in that 
section of the county.  The deceased's maternal grandmother was a sister of 
the grandmother of Abraham Lincoln.
  Rev. Akers was at one time in charge of the Second M. E. church of 
Huntingdon.  Two children survive him: Mrs. Margaret Cate, of Michigan, and 
Herbert Akers, of Youngstown Ohio. The funeral took place at 1 o'clock on 
Saturday at Everett, Pa.
