Patrick Brennan

  Patrick H. Brennan, 81, of Boyn-
ton Beach, Fla., the loving father of
Patricia Bidwell, Indiana, passed
away early Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998,
in Hollywood, Fla.
  Born in Leetsdale, Patrick grew
up in neighboring Sewickly.  He was
a graduate of Duquesne University,
Pittsburgh.
  In 1940, he joined the U.S. Air
Force and held the rank of major
while serving in the Aleutian Islands
during World War II.
  Patrick met and married Miriam
Barnes at Maxwell Field AFB,
Montgomery, Ala.
  After the war, they settled in
Florida where they resided for 52
years. Patrick was city comptroller
of Hollywood, Fla., when he lost his
sight from retinitis pigmentosa, a 
hereditary eye disease.
  Despite his blindness, he main-
tained a private tax consulting busi-
ness for many years.  At the time of
his death, he was the broker for
Quail Ridge Country Club Realty in
Boynton Beach Fla.  He was highly
respected for his strong faith, cour-
age, and indomitable spirit.
  Surviving are Miriam, his devoted
wife of 55 years; daughters and
sons-in-law: Patricia "Patty" and
David Bidwell, Indiana; Susan and
Manuel Rivas, Hollywood, Fla.; one grand-
daughter, Caitlin Bidwell and
grandson, Jeffrey Perkins, Indiana;
a brother, Edward; a sister, Mary;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
