Indiana Register, Indiana, Pennsylvania, 18 September 1867
BOTHELL. On the 9th inst., at Pleasant Ridge, Rock Island County, Ill., MRS.
SUSAN BOTHELL, wife of CAMPBELL BOTHELL, aged upwards of 65 years.
MRS. BOTHELL'S death was caused by a bite of a rattlesnake. On the morning
of the 5th inst., she went into a melon patch, adjacent to the house, and while
there she was bitten in the ankle by a snake, and was immediately thereafter
prostrated, resulted in her death as stated. A greater part of her life was
spent in diligent use of the means of grace and salvation. She exercised a most
charitable disposition toward all, and took great interest in the prosperity of
the church to which she was attached. During her last hours, when suffering
from severe pains, and having before her the consciousness of approaching
dissolution, she was cheered, resigned, and patient. She rests from her labor,
having come to her grave in full age, as a shock of corn cometh in its season.
--Com.
--It is about four years since MR. BOTHELL, with his wife and family
removed from Indiana county to Illinois, where they have since resided. The
many friends of the deceased in this county, will regret to learn of the death
of this estimable lady.
