MORTUARY RECORD
JOHN BOTHEL
John BOTHEL, of Washington township, died on Sunday morning, of generally 
debility, in his 78th year. He was married to Sarah DICK in 1846.  Eight 
children were born to them, viz.:
Mary, married to William H. DIXON;
John McCREA, married to Rebecca TRIMBLE;
Thomas;
James, married to Clara McDONALD;
Laura J., married to Theodore STUTCHELL,
and Sarah R.
and Daniel.
All are living save James Md., who died last fall at Apollo of typhoid fever. 
The deceased served with Company F of the although Pa., during the war. He 
taught school for 18 consecutive terms in his earlier life. He joined the 
Presbyterian church in young manhood and was a ruling elder in his church. The 
remains were interred at the PlumcreeK graveyard yesterday afternoon, the 
funeral services being conducted by the Rev. Devor, of Rochester's Mills. He 
was a regular attendant at teachers' county and district institutes and took 
great interest in the cause of education. He was a leading and influential 
citizen. He was among the first Prohibitionists and assisted in the 
organization of the party. In summing up his life's career it can be 
truthfully said he was a good man, an affectionate husband and father and a 
consistent christian.
