HARRY H. BENCE, 68,  a lifetime resident of Indiana county, died very

suddenly of a heart attack while at work, Monday, March 12 at 9 am. He

resided at Clymer RD 1.



Mr. Bence was born in Cherryhill Township, Indiana County, December 12,

1883, a son of Henry and the late Emma (Cribbs) Bence.



At the time of his death, Mr. Bence was working as tipple boss at the Barr

Slope Division of the C.B.C. Coal Co., where he had been employed for the

past forty-one years.



He was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Dixonville.



Surviving are his wife, Anna Belle (Buchanan) Bence, one daughter and four

sons: Mrs. Arbutus Lightner, Dixonville; Lee Bence, Vandergrift; Dean,

Harrisburg, Ill.; Blaine, Erie, and Ray, Chardon, Ohio. He is also survived

by his father, Henry Bence of Kenton, Ohio, and the following brothers and

sisters:Emory Bence, Spring Church; Mrs. Clara Keto and Mrs. Emma Keiser,

both of Kenton, Ohio; and Mrs. Mary Spencer and Mrs. Iva West, both of

Reading. Ten grandchildren also survive. One son, Glenn, preceded him in

death in 1945.



Friends will be received at the Bence Funeral Home, Clymer, after 7 pm

today, where services will be conducted on Thursday, March 15, at 2 pm. The

Rev. Frank B. Miller of Dixonville will officiate, assisted by the Rev.

Frank B. Miller of Dixonville will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Bernard

C. Pollock of Penn Run. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
