CHARLES H. BENCE, 68, of Sarasota Fla., formerly of Indiana, died Friday

July 19, 1985 at Sarasota, Fla.



A son of Charles L. and Elizabeth Barber Bence, he was born Jan. 26, 1917,

in Dixonville.



Mr. Bence was past Master of Tyrmia Lodge No. 612. F & A.M. member of the

Scottish Rite and York Rite both of Sarasota, Fla., charter member of the

Sahib Temple and past president of the Air Stream Sun Coast Unit W.B.C.C.I.



He has been associated with Peoples Natural Gas Company of Greensburg before

retiring. He had lived a number of years in Indiana, several years in

Pittsburgh, and the past 12 years at his present address. He was a veteran

of World War II.



Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Lydic Bence; a son, Charles B. Bence of

Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Cynthia Bence at home and Candace Kafman of

Lakeland, Fla., two grandsons; a brother, James L. Bence of Indiana; two

sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hochstrasser and Mrs. William (Barbara) McGinnis

both of Indiana.



He was preceded in death by his parents.



Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle's

Indiana, where services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, July 24, Pastor

Frederick B. Haer will officiate and interment will be in Oakland Cemetery,

Indiana.



Masonic services will be held at 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
