Walter E. Beatty, 65, of 487 North Fifth Street, Indiana, a veteran employe
of the
Indiana Evening Gazette, passed away Monday morning, Nov. 9, 1964, at Indiana
Hospital.

Born January 15, 1899, in White Township, Indiana County, he was a son
of
Harry E. and Nora Adams Beatty

A lifelong resident of the Indiana area, Mr. Beatty has been an employe
of the
Indiana Evening Gazette for nearly 50 years, starting as a compositor in
1915. He retired
eatlier this year

Mr. Beatty was a member of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church, where
he
was a member of the Session, the Leech Bible Class, and the Mens Association.
He served
for a time as a teacher in the Junior High Department.

The deceased was a member of Indiana Lodge No. 313, F. & A.M., Coudersport
Consistory, Jaffa Temple of Altoona, John Daughtery Royal Arch Chapter
No. 313,
Indiana, Pittsburgh Commandery No. 1, Kittanning Council No. 52, and Indiana
Shrine
Club.

He had also been a member of Company F, Pennsylvania National Guard, for
several years, and during World War II , was a member of the Home Guard,
an
organization which substituted for Company F while that unit was on active
duty.

Surviors include his widow, Mrs. Anne Jury Beatty, one daughter, Mrs. Rossman
(Marjory ) Shaffer, Indiana; one brother, Reed I. , Indiana, a sister,
Mrs. Carl (Meridith )
Paul, Indiana,; three grand children; Alan Rossman Shaffer, Audrey Lynn
Shaffer, and
Scott Beatty Shaffer.

Friends are being received at Robinson-Lytle's Funeral Home, Indiana, from
2-4
and 7-9 PM today, where services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday, Nov.
11, Dr.
James Burnett Reid officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery,
Indiana.

The Leech Bible Class will conduct memorial services at 7:30 this evening
at the
funeral home, and United Commercial Travelers will pay their respects at
8 P.M. this
evening.
