BION HERKINS, AGED RESIDENT, PASSES AWAY
  Bion Herkins, aged 74 years, who had been a resident of Media many years, 
died yesterday.  He had been ill for several weeks.
  Mr. Herkins had been a deputy sheriff and had served subpoenas for a number 
of attorneys upon their witnesses to appear in Court.
  Mr. Herkins at one time operated an oyster house.  He also sold Christmas 
trees and has done some detective work.
  He was a member of Media Council No. 749, Junior Order United American 
mechanics.
  He was a son of the late William E. and Rebecca Stern Herkins.  Surviving is 
one daughter, Miss Annie Herkins, of Philadelphia.
  Funeral services will be held at the Rigby Funeral Home, 110 West State 
street, Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock.  Interment will be at Fernwood 
cemetery.
  It is expected that members of the lodge will hold their service Sunday 
evening.

BION HERKINS FUNERAL TOOK PLACE YESTERDAY
  Funeral services were held yesterday for Bion Herkins, aged 74 years, of 
Media, who was well known throughout the county, at the Rigby Funeral Home, 
110 West State street.
  Rev. Robert A. McIlwain, a former pastor of the First Methodiat Episcopal 
Church of Media officiated.
  Members of the Junior Order United American Mechanics No. 749 of Media held 
their service Sunday evening.
  Interment was at Fernwood Cemetery.  The pallbearers were Edgar Smedley, 
Harry P. Engle, George Thomas and Warren A. Baker.  There were several 
beautiful sprays of flowers, sent by those who had known the deceased.
  Mr. Herkins had lived at the county seat a number of years and had been not
