May 28, 1847
DELAWARE COUNTY REPUBLICAN

Death Notice
DIED - At her residence, in this borough, on Sunday evening,
the 23d of May, 1847, ABIGAIL EYRE, in the 88th year of her
age. She was born in this county, and remembered, with great
distinctness, until a short time previous to her death, many
of the stirring scenes connected with the early settlement of
the county. She assisted in dressing the wounds of the
soldiers at the Battle of the Brandywine, and could recount
many of the occurrences that took place on that memorable
occasion. Her life passed quietly away without pain, and she
died as she had lived, at peace with all the world. Her
remains were deposited in Friends'burying ground, in this
borough, to which Society she was attached during life.
