                                   RALPH DURNELL
                                   YOUNG VETERAN
                                   11 - 24 - 1948
 
          RALPH DURNELL, veteran of 18 months in South Pacific during the
      war, died Saturday at his home at 226 Brooks street, Media. He was 22
      on Aug. 28.
 
          He had been ill for the past six months. Born in Springfield he 
      attended grammar school in Media. He entered the ARMY Oct. 5, 1943,
      and served until March 10, 1946, a year and half overseas with the 
      ENGINEER CORPS.
 
          Surviving are his wife, Mrs. ELIZABETH NICHOLSON DURNELL, a
      son, WALTER, 17 months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. WALTER
      DURNELL, of 1 Hilltop road, Media; six brothers, LEROY, of
      613 Painter street, Media, and ROBERT, NORMAN, CALVIN, JOHN
      and LESTER, all at home, and four sisters, Mrs. VIOLET LEE, of
      234 Brooks street, Media, Mrs. GERTRUDE REID, of Paducah, Ky.,
      and NORA and GRACE, both at home.
 
          Funeral service will be Friday at 11 a. m. at the Marple Baptist 
      Church, Creek and State roads, Marple. Burial will be in the Soldiers
      National Cemetery, Beverly, N. J. The viewing will be from 7 to 8 p. m.
      Thursday at the church.
