Mary A. Brower

In East Coventry, on Friday evening at 5 o'clock, peacefully passed to her
rest, Mary A. Brower, wife of Peter Brower, in the 74th year of her age. She
had long been a sufferer from kidney troubles, which finally developed into
diabetes, from which she suffered intensely, the disease taking such a from as
to cause deafness, almost total blindness, and great emaciation. All her
afflictions were borne with such patience and gentle submission that come only
to those who are resting upon faith. She was the mother of ten children. Three
died in early childhood; one son was killed at the battle of Balls Bluff; six
are living- John H., of East Coventry; Thomas J., Philadelphia; Herman P.,
Whitford; Allan, Spring City; Hannah, wife of Ellwood Quay, Phoenixville, and
Jennie, wife of Rev. A. W. Quimby, Bryn Mawr. At the age of fifteen she united
with Brownback Church, where she labored zealously for many years, until
failing health interfered. A loving and faithful wife, a gentle and
affectionate mother, a firm and true friend, surely her death causes a void
that cannot be filled. She will be buried in the cemetery adjoining the Church.
