Joseph Bennett, of Chester County ancestry, now residing in Philadelphia, was
not forgotten on his 87th birthday anniversary this week. He is a retired
farmer of Willistown township, and one time resided in one of the Nantmeals.
His wife was of the well known Cloud family of this county. On Wednesday he
was tendered a dinner at Llanerch by his relatives and he and all enjoyed the
day. He writes to friends here through the Local, as it is called, to say
thanks to all.

Joseph G. Bennett died at half past nine last night. A week ago he had a
paralytic stroke and from then until his death he had been in a semiconscious
condition.

At the time of his marriage to Lydia Cloud, a daughter of William Cloud, Mr.
Bennett was a farmer in Willistown township. From there he moved to East
Nantmeal, and thence to Philadelphia where he resided until his death. Even
after his 80th birthday it was his delight to sing at the yearly Cloud
reunions. The singing, generally Old Black Joe, or some other melody, was
always greatly enjoyed by his relatives.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Lydia Cloud Bennett, three daughters, Anna
Ringler, of Fleetwood; Sarah Eachus and Frances Stewart, and one son, William.
Another son, Harry G., went to California before the earthquake and has not
been heard from since. Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren also
survive Mr. Bennett.
