                  P. Batipps Active in Church

            PERCY O. BATIPPS, 79, a clerk in Greenburg's Drug
        Store, Springfield, of 604 Summer St., Media, died
        Monday at his home.
            Mr. BATIPPS, was a member of Trinity Union American
        Methodist Episcopal Church, president of its trustee board
        and director of its senior choir.
            He was a charter member of the Media Branch of the
        National Association for the Advancement of Colored
        People and served as president for 12 years. He was a
        charter member of Fellowship House of Media and a
        member of Local United Nations Committee.
            Mr. BATIPPS also was organizer of Media Promoting
        Concern which promoted people of note, including
        Marien ANDERSON, Roland HAYES and many others.
            He lived in Media all his life and was educated in the
        Media public schools. He was a graduate of Union
        Theological Seminary and a graduate of Normal Teacher
        School, Wilmington, Del., with a teachers certificate
        and a recipient of Four Chaplains Legion of Honor
        membership award.
            He is survived by his widow, MAE T., three sons,
        DR. PERCY O BATIPPS, JR., and DONALD, both of
        Media, and DR. FRANCIS BATIPPS, of Reedville, Pa.;
        two daughter, MRS. HERMAN GILBERT, of Media and
        MRS. LLOYD WILLIAMS, of Trenton, N. J.; two sisters,
        Mrs. THOMAS BROOKS and Mrs. BERTHA B. JOHNSON,
        both of Media; a brother, SAMUEL, of Media; nine
        grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
            Services will be at noon Monday at Trinity UAME
        Church, North Olive St., Media. Burial will be in
        Rolling Green Cemetery, West Chester.
            Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church.
