                             BATIPPS

            CLARENCE BATIPPS, 72, of 239 Maple Ave., Morton,
        was pronounced died at Tri-County Hospital, Springfield,
        Sunday.
            Mr. BATIPPS had been attending services at the
        Shorter AME Church, Pennington Ave., Morton, when he
        was stricken.
            Born in Media, he was a lifelong county resident and
        a retired truck driver for Stillwell of Morton. He was a
        member of the choir and male chorus at the church and
        chairman of the piano committee.
            Survivors are his wife, MARY; a son, CLARENCE, JR.
        of Glenolden; four daughters, Mrs. GERALDINE HAMILIN
        of Glenolden and Mrs. EDITH SINGLE, Mrs. AUDREY
        STEPHENS and Mrs. JANET JONES, all of Springfield;
        two sister, Mrs. ELIZABETH COLEMAN of Chester and
        Mrs. EVA YOUNG of Media; 15 grandchildren and 5
        great-grandchildren.
            The funeral will be 8 p.m. Thursday at the Shorter
        AME Church. Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday in Union Hill
        Cemetery, Kennett Square.
            Calling hours will be 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the
        church.
