DELAWARE COUNTY REPUBLICAN

Memorial
The annexed preamble and resolutions of were adopted by the
members of Company D, 97th Regiment, P.V., July 27th, 1862.
WHEREAS, Our late fellow soldier, and esteemed companion,
JOSEPH BAKER, Jr., of Thornbury, Delaware county, has been
removed, by death, from our midst, and, Whereas, his many
manly and noble traits of character have endeared him to one
and all; Therefore, RESOLVED, That in the demise of said
Joseph Baker, Jr., we, as a Company, have sustained a great
loss - one of which cannot soon be repaired. RESOLVED, That in
his death we have lost a brave and true soldier, a loyal and
good citizen, a true hearted and an honest man. RESOLVED, That
we hope that his memory may be kept fresh, long after his
mortal remains cease to exist. RESOLVED. That we deeply
sympathize with his bereaved family in the loss they have
sustained. RESOLVED. That a copy of the above be furnished to
the County papers, with the request that it be published.
