                      CAPT. BAKER KILLED FIGHTING IN REICH
                   Former Drexel and Media High Football Star
                            Had been Wounded Before
 
       Captain GEORGE M. BAKER, former Drexel Institute Of Technology
   and Media High School football star, was killed in Germany on April 12,
   his wife, ELAINE, 304 Gayley terrace, Media, has been advised.
       He entered the ARMY in September, 1941, and went overseas with
   the 102d Battalion, Ninth Army, last September. He was wounded last
   Christmas Eve, receiving the PURPLE HEART. On returning to duty he 
   was awarded the BRONZE STAR for heroism in action on January 13.
       Captain BAKER was captain of the 1932 Media Football team and
   was graduated the following year. He was graduated from Drexel in 
   1938 and captained the football team there in his senior year.
       In addition to his wife, he also is survived by a four-year-old daughter,
   PAMELA LOU, and his parents, MR. and MRS. WILMER W. BAKER,
   of the Gayley terrace address.
 
       Captain BAKER was among 12 men from this area listed today as
   killed in action. Sixty-seven others were wounded and three are held
   prisoner.
