                      'FOURTH' INJURY KILLS YOURTH
Dies in Chester Hospital From Burns Inflicted By Toy Pistol

The first death attributed to Fourth of July celebrations in
several years was recorded today when, ERNEST WILLIAM
BAKER, of Washington avenue, South Media, died in the
Chester Hospital from lockjaw, caused by a flesh wound
received when a cap pistol exploded in his hand on the Fourth
    of July.
The fifteen-year-old boy was slightly burned when the toy
pistol exploded while playing near his home, but paid no
attention to the wound, until this week when the injured hand
began to swell and pain. A doctor was called yesterday, and
diagnosed the case of lockjaw, and ordered the boy's removal
    to Chester Hospital at once.
He was admitted yesterday afternoon, but his condition
gradually grew worse, until 5 o'clock this morning when he died.
The boy, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. HOWARD BAKER,
attended the Church of the Nativity Parochial School, Media, and
was a member of the Sunday School of the South Methodist
    Episcopal Church.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, the body
now being in charge of Deputy Coroner E. F. White.
