Died at the residence of her husband, at Dunningsville, Nottingham Twp., Washington
Co., Pa., February 23d, 1864, Mrs. Elizabeth, wife of Samuel Thomas, aged 40 years,
5 months and 26 days. The deceased was born in Jefferson County, near Smithfield,
Ohio. She was but three weeks old at the time of her mother's death. Later in life
she removed to Washington County, Pa., near Canonsburg. She was married on the 12th
day of May, 1842, and was dedicated to God in baptism by the Rev. Dr. Sloan, in
September, 1844...
About twenty hours before her death, she took each child by the hand, that was at
home, (the second daughter being at the Seminary at Steubenville, and a son being
captured November 10th, 1862, and not being heard or since,) also some of her
neighbors, and gave them her counsel.
