Died April 3d, at his late residence in Robinson Township, Washington County, Col.
James McDonald. The deceased, notwithstanding he had exceeded four-score years, had,
until very recently the erect form and firm, elastic step of manhood, his natural
strength but little abated, and the vivacity and animation of youth almost
unchanged. But a violent attack of gangrene of the limbs soon brought weakness and
death to this once vigorous body. Col. McDonald lived all his life upon a part of
the large tract of land first purchased and occupied by his father, who was one of
the earliest settlers of this county, a man of great wealth, as well as moral worth
 A devoted Christian wife, and four children, now mourn the loss of a husband and
father upon whom they were accustomed so long to rely for counsel, sympathy and
needful help.
