Death Notice of James King:  At the home of his son-in-law, Henry Howell, in
West Washington, about 9 o'clock Sunday morning July 21, 1907. James King
died of paralysis, past 82 years of age.  He had suffered three strokes, one
several years ago, another about two years ago and a last one about the
first of the month.  A brief service was held Monday evening and the remains
were brought to this place Tuesday morning.  Rev. S.L. Parcell conducted the
service in the Baptist church using for his text "This day shalt thou be
with me in paradise and dwelling on the love of Christ".  The pall bearers
were three sons Alfred, Will, and John M. King and three son-in-laws, Scott
Haun, W.B. Blayney, and Harry Turner. The interment was in the Claysville
cemetery.

Mr. King was born May 26, 1826, in West Finley Twp., about a mile from
Majorsville, son of George Harvey and Margaret McElroy King, who came from
Maryland and settled there in the 20s.  As a boy he was employed by Wilson
Bros., at one time prominent merchants of West Alexander.  In 1848 he
married Susanna Hartsock.  About 1855 he moved to Pleasant Grove and later
to Good Intent, where he lived many years.  Mrs. King died in 1894 since
which time he has lived with his children.  Most of his life was spent
farming.  Ten children survive:  Alfred north of Claysville; Mrs. W.H.
Howell and Mrs. Thomas Carroll, of Washington; Mrs. James Brownlee, of East
Finley Twp., Will King of Claysville; Mrs. Scott Haun, of Washington; Mrs.
Rose Turner and John M. King of Claysville, and Mrs. W.B. Blayney of Good
Intent.
