Washington Observer Reporter April 6, 1964

Arthur Rogers (Bogan) Couts, 42, of 1822 The Circle, Elwood Park, was dead on 
arrival at Washington Hospital, Sunday April 5, 1964 at 4 p.m.

He was born in Washington Jan 31, 1922, a son of Edward C. and the late Florence 
Mossburg Couts, and spent all his life here. He was a member of the Immaculate 
Conception Church.

Mr. Couts was a sergeant with an anti tank company in the 376th Regiment, 94th 
Division in the European Theater during WWII. He was in the Battle of the 
Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.

At the time of his death, he was a lineman for West Penn Power Company, where 
he had been employed for 16 years. On June 28, 1948, he was married to Fredericka 
Presto, who survives.

Also surviving are his father, Edward C. Couts, one son, Arthur R. Couts Jr,; 
one daughter, Lisa Marie, both at home; one brother, Edward C. Couts Jr, and 
one sister, Clementine Wisnosky, both of Washington.
