BURNS - On Thursday last a miner by the name of James 
Burns, was killed at the Loyalhanna Coal and Coke Works, 
Westmoreland county.  He was at work in one of the rooms, 
when a large portion of slate, becoming detached, fell upon 
him, injuring him so badly that he died inside of an hour's 
time.
