  Ground Up on the Railroad.

A man named Stephen Brannocks was killed at Blairsville
Intersection at an early hour Tuesday morning, while trying
to board a freight train for the purpose of stealing a ride
to Johnstown. Brannocks was a stone mason by trade, and on
Monday he went to Johnstown to try to secure employment on
the line of the Somerset and Cambria railroad. He was a
relative of Mr. Murray, who has charge of the work on that
section of Booth & Flinn's contract which passes through the
"hollow," couple of miles from Scalp Level. The gentleman
gave him a job at mason work, and Brannocks then started for
his home in Latrobe to get his working clothes and tools.
He attempted to beat his way back to Johnstown, and while
trying to get on a moving freight train at the intersection
he fell under the wheels and was horribly mangled. The
remains were taken charge of by relatives of the deceased,
coffined and sent to Latrobe, where he had been making his
home for some time past with a married sister. Brannocks is
said to have been under the influence of liquor at the time
of the fatal accident.
