Mrs. Martha E. Deck.
On Saturday, December 20, 1913 Mrs. Martha E. Deck, wife of Mr. James E. Deck,
died in the Allegheny General Hospital following a surgical operation. Their home was
on the farm known as the Robert A. Armstrong farm In Allegheny township, where they
had lived since last March, coming from near Uniontown. Mrs. Deck had been ill for a
long time with complications, which medical skill failed to overcome. The short time
she had lived in the neighborhood had endeared her to the neighbors of that social
community, as she was a very amiable Christian woman and loving wife and mother.
Mrs. Deck's maiden name was Martha Frank and she is survived by her husband, two
sons, aged 10 and 13 years, also by her father and mother, two sisters and four brothers,
all of who live near Uniontown, She was aged 39 years and 7 months. The remains were
taken to Uniontown where services were held in the Protestant Methodist church Rev.
Davis, a missionary of the M. E. Church officiating. The remains were laid to rest in a
cemetery at that place.
