  James Beatty Obituary
 
  Beatty died at
  his home near Licenring, Fayette Co. Pa., May 3 1887.  Mr James Beatty
  proprietor of the Uniontown Demacrat aged 65 yrs.  Mr. Beatty was born
  August 26 1822 in Fayette Co. Pa.  In early life he confessed his savior
  and united with the Presbyterian Church at Tyrone. Mr Beatty was the
  oldest of a family of six children four of whom two brothers and two
  sisters still survive him. He leaves a wife and ten children to mourn
  his loss.  He was married twice.  His first wife was Miss Sarah Jane
  Sherrer, of Baltimore Md. to her were born 14 children 7 of whom are
  stll living; his second wife Miss Francis A. Jones of Wattsburgh , Erie
  Co. to her were born 5 children, 3 of whom survive him. In all then, Mr.
  Beatty was the father of 19 children. The greater number of these are
  married and have families.  In all there are 17 grandchildren now living.
  Mr Beatty was widely known throughout the country and was highly
  respected by allwho knew  him.

  John C. Beatty, a plasterer by trade and well and favorably known to the
  people of Connellsville and New Haven was found dead in his bed Thursday
  morning May 5, 1887.  Mr. Beatty was a man of powerful frame and to all
  appearances in robust health.  The evening before he was in New Haven and
  apparently in perfect health.  James Beatty, his father, whose death was
  announced in the Genius last week was buried May 5 and John went out to
  the home in Dunbar twp. near Leicenring, on the evening before retired
  to bed at 12 pm. The next morning he was late getting up, and his sister
  going to call him was horrified to find him cold and lifeless. The
  cause of his death is supposed to be from heart disease. His funeral
  took place on sunday under the King David Lodge of Dunbar, General Worth
  Lodge of Odd Fellows, of Connellsville and Improved Order of Red Men of
  Connellsville. The deceased was 37 yrs old . He possessed a genial
  social disposition and many warm friends with whom he associated in life
  will sadly miss his pleasant greetings. The members of the secret
  organisations with which he was connected showed their appreciation of
  his standing by turning out in large numbers to pay their tribute and
  respect to his memory.

  Mrs CORA BLACK 
                                        
  Mrs. Cora Gertrude Beatty Black, 72, of 360  Arch St. died at 5:45 am 
  today at Connellsville state hospital where she was admitted
  Thursday. She was born at Licenring No.1 Aug 6, 1884 the daughter 
  of James and Francis Jones Beatty and was a resident of the local
  area all her life.  She was a member of the Central Methodist Church.
  She is survived by four sons; Harry of Maywood Ca., Albert of South
  Connellsville, Donald of Connellsville, and Jess at home; three 
  daughters Mrs. Olive Camlin and Mrs Leola Schobert of Connellsville 
  and Mrs Fay Hall at home; 21 grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren.  Her 
  husband James Lynn Black died in 1930.  The body will be at the Munk 
  funeral home after 8 pm today.

 Adora Beatty, 59, widow of James Beatty died today at 3:00 at the home of
 her daughter Mrs Cora Beatty Black 802 Run avenue from a complication of
 disease she had been ill since Thursday morning.  Mrs Beatty came to
 Connellsville 11 yrs. ago. She was born in Wattsburg, Erie Co. a daughter of
 the late Warren and Sarah Smith Jones.  In 1876 she married and soon moved
 to Licenring.  Her husband died May 3, 1887.  Since coming to Connellsville
 she has resided with her daughter.  In addition to Mrs. Black, the deceased
 is also survived by another daughter, Mrs. John Daily of Dunbar, a step-
 daughter, Mrs. Emma Sherrick at home, one brother George Jones of
 Wattsburg; 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The funeral
 service will be held Wednesday aft. at the home of Olive Camlin, a
 granddaughter, at 810 Franklin Ave. Interment will be at Laurel Hill
 Cemetery.

J. LYNN BLACK is dead after long illness     

 James Black 58 yrs old died at 10:15 last night at his home 709 Run Avenue. 
He had been ill a long time and bedfast for 6 months.  Mr.
BLack was born at Rices Landing June 4 1872.  The son of the late James T.
and Elizabeth Black he was married July 9, 1900 to Miss Cora Beatty,
daughter of the late Colonel and Mrs. James Beatty of Licenring.  The
were 9 children surviving and the wife; the following sons and
daughters Harry, Donald, Melvin, Cora, Fay, James and Jesse all at home,
Mrs Olive Camlin, Albert ad Mrs Leola Orndorf of this city and the
following brothers and sisters;  R.A. Black of Nemicolin. A.H. Black of
Cambrige Ohio, Anna Worcester of Brownsville and T.W. Black of
Connellsville. 
   Mr. Black had been a resident of the community for 30 years He was 
formerly engaged as a painter and paper hanger for many years.  He sufferd 
from lead poisoning.  The funeral will be Monday at 2:00.  Internment will
be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
