DEATH ENTERS HOME
On Saturday, February 12th the angel of death visited the Barker home on the
bench and called there-from the mother, Mrs. Jennie May Barker, after a short
illness of blood poisoning. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Barker came to Payette last
spring from Oklahoma and purchased a place on the bench and the death of the
wife is made all the more sad from the fact that they were just preparing after
a year of hard work, to move into a fine new house the husband had been
building.' The funeral occurred Tuesday from the Christian church and in the
illness of Rev. D. C. Peters, was preached by Rev. A. Wells. The remains were
interred in Riverside cemetery, a large number of the friends and neighbors
from the bench attending testifying their appreciation of this good woman who
while only a resident of their community a short time had endeared herself to
many.
Jennie May Barker was born at Plymouth, Illinois, May 19, 1876 and was united
in marriage to Allen (s/b Aaron) Edward Barker at Lacy, Oklahoma on January
30th, 1895. At the time of her death she was 38 years, 8 months and 24 days of
age. For sixteen years she had been a faithful, conscientious member of the
Christian church as also the husband.
She leaves to mourn her untimely call five manly little sons, her husband, a
devoted father and three sisters all of whom reside at a distance.
