PAYETTE - O. Harlan Ames, 65, Payette, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1987, at home of 
natural causes.  Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Family 
Catholic Church, Payette.  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. 
Tuesday at the church with Rev. Sean Caulfield as celebrant, under direction 
of Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, Payette.  Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Payette.
 
He was born Oct. 10, 1921, at Ramsey, Ill., a son of Harry and Pearl Krapf 
Ames.  He was reared and educated in Illinois.  He married Mary Bieber on 
April 16, 1942, at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  He served in the U.S. Navy during 
World War II.  They moved to Payette in 1946 where he began working for Davey 
Tree Co., then for Wells and Davies Meat Packing Co., as plant engineer.  He 
later owned his own electrical and refrigeration business.  He was a member of 
the Holy Family Catholic Church; Ontario Elks Lodge; and the American Legion 
in Payette.
 
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Payette; three sons, Steven, Thomas and 
Joseph Ames, all of Payette; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Kristine) Tuttle of 
Ontario; Mrs. Bruce (Gail) Perkins of Eugene; a brother, Whitney Ames, 
Mattoon, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.  His parents and a sister died earlier.
 
Memorials may be made in the Veterans Home in Boise, or to a favorite charity.
