The Last Will of John H. Kennedy

  In the name of the Lord whose unprofitable servant I am, I John H. 
Kennedy of Alexandria Huntingdon County Penna., being in reasonably 
good health of body, and also of mind and memory, do make and declare 
this to be my will and testament in manner following.  Thus is to say I 
order that all my just debt funeral expenses and charges of proving 
this my will be in the first place fully paid and satisfied and after 
payment thereof I give and bequeath to Ursinus college estate in 
Montgomery Co. Penna. two thousand dollars $2000 for aid in freeing the 
said college from debt, or of otherwise needed then at the direction of 
the trustees of said college.  I give and bequeath to the Presbyterian 
church of Alexandria one hundred dollars to be used as the session of 
said church may think best for their Benevolent opperations.  I give 
and bequeath one hundred dollars to the M. E. Church of Alexandria for 
the purpose of aiding said methodist in whatever department of the 
Lord's work the minister and trustees of said church may elect.  And 
all the rest, residue and remainder of my goods, chattels, debts ready 
money, effects and other my estate whatsoever and wheresoever, both 
real and personal I give and bequeath the same and every part and parcel 
thereof unto my Executors.
  And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my dear wife 
Wilhelmine Kennedy and J. R. Simpson Esq. attorney at law of Huntingdon 
Penna Executors of this my will, and order that all my dues notes and 
etc not out on approved security be collected in and put out on 
interest in one or more good places if suitable, and the yearly 
proceeds or income of all my estate both real and personal, I give and 
bequeath to my dear wife Wilhelmine Kennedy during her natural life in 
case she survives the writer,  At mine and my wife's death, I give and 
bequeath one thousand dollars to the Reformed orphans home of Fort 
Wayne Indiana.  I give and bequeath one thousand dollars to Heidelberg 
College Tiffin Ohio.  I give and bequeath two hundred dollars to Ann 
McCormick now of Tyrone daughter of my sister Salena and now Mrs. Hall.  
I give and bequeath two hundred dollars to Mrs. Lillie Given, my 
Brother Wesley's first child by Amanda Given.
  The residue and balance of stocks, money as interest real estate 
household goods and personal effect or whatever shape it may be in I 
wish to fairly and equally divide amongst the children of my three 
sisters and one Brother, viz,  four shares, one to Selenah McCormick 
heirs, one to Julia Burket heirs, one to Mary Burket heirs, one to 
Charles W. Kennedy heirs, and hereby appoint the above named Executors 
to administer the same in case of the disability or death of other of 
the above administrators I do nominate Alfred Porter of Alexandria.
  In witness whereof I the said testator have to this my last will and 
Testament set my hand and seal the 19th day February A.D. 1892.

Huntingdon County ss:

  Before me, Register for the Probate of wills and granting letters of 
Administration in and for said county personally appeared Alfred Porter 
who being duly sworn doth depose and say that John H. Kennedy late of 
the Boro of Alexandria died on or about the 23rd day of May 1894 at 9 
o'clock p.m. to the best of his knowledge and belief.  Sworn and 
subscribed this 1st day of June A.D. 1894 before M. W. Isenberg, 
Register.

County of Huntingdon ss:

M. W. Isenberg -  This 1st day of June A.D. 1894 before me Register for 
the Probate of wills and granting Letters of Administration in and for 
the county of Huntingdon personally came Alfred W. Spyker and Alfred 
Porter the subscribing witnesses to the above will and being duly 
qualified according to law did depose and say that they were present 
and saw and heard John H. Kennedy testator sign, seal, publish, 
pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for 
his testament and last will, and that at the time of so doing he, the 
said testator was of perfect and sound mind, memory and understanding 
to the best of their knowledge observation and belief.  
  Sworn, affirmed and subscribed before me M. W. Isenberg, Register.

Letters Testamentary issued on the Estate of John H. Kennedy

  On this 1st day of June A.D. 1894 Letters Testamentary in common form 
were issued to J. R. Simpson and Alfred Porter on the Estate of John H 
Kennedy late of the Borough of Alexandria deceased.
