LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF ADAM KEITH, DECEASED

In the name of God amen. I Adam Keith of the Township of Hopewell in 
the County of Huntingdon and State of Pennsylvania Farmer, being very 
sick and weak, but of sound mind, memory and understanding blessed be 
god for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in 
manner and form following, to wit, Principally and just of all I 
commend my immortal soul into the hands of god who gave it, and my body 
to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the 
discretion of executors hereinafter named, and as to such worldly 
estate wherewith it has pleased god to bless me in this life, I give 
and dispose of the same in the following manner to wit, I give and 
devise to my son John Keith the mansion house and all the plantation 
that I do now possess during the lifetime of my dear wife Barbara or 
for so long as she shall remain a widow only reserving the one third of 
a reasonable rent to be paid to the widow as long as she remains a 
widow and no longer. And one black mare one sorrel horse one mans 
saddle all grind stone, all the farming materials gears and harness 
belonging to me, and all the rye corn, Buckwheat oats and all the fall 
grain that is in the grounds belonging to me. I give and devise to my 
son-in-law George Heeter my rent of his grain in my ground. I give and 
devise to my daughter Elizabeth Keith one young sorrel mare one cow 
three sheep her bed and bedding one new spinning wheel and six dollars 
in cash. I give and devise unto my dear wife Barbara one old sorrel 
mare one womans saddle and bridle her bed and bedding, one case of 
Drawers all the flax and tow all the yearn, all the wool and wollen 
yearn and the linen cloth, and to her for the use of the family the 
following provisions, Twelve bushels of wheat all the meat and 
vegetables. And for the rest of my moveable property to be equally 
divided between my wife and children (such property as suits them to 
divide the are to have the privilege of dividing before the residue. 
Also all the debts due to me wither by notes or accts and all the cash 
I have on hand, the balance of which (after paying my first debts 
financial expenses &c) is to be equally divided as aforesaid. And all 
my wheat on hand for marked this year to be stored with John King for 
to carry down the river to Middletown or Collumbia, and he is to sell 
it for me with the wheat that was stored with him the year before this. 
And the money arising from such sale of all the wheat stored with him 
and the amount of a due bill left in his hand for collection against 
the company of Hopewell Iron Works and the balance due me from Swoope 
and King, all of which must remain in the hands of Peter Swoope and 
John king until the first day of August in the year A. D. 1808. And all 
my demands against James Entriken Esq. must remain in his hands until 
the first day of August in the year 1808. And the amount of the two 
aforesaid sums that will be in the hands of Peter Swoope and John King 
and James Entriken Esquire on the first of August aforesaid equally to 
be divided alike between my wife and children I give and devised as 
aforesaid. And after the decease of my dear wife Barbara or of her 
marriage, the plantation aforesaid is to be sold and equally divided my 
three children to wit, John Keith, Mary Keith wife of George Heeter, 
Elizabeth Keith all of the aforesaid I give and devise to my said 
children or the survivor or survivors of them, and to the heirs of such 
survivors or survivors. And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint my 
said son John Keith and my dear friend Adam Redkey of the township 
count and commonwealth aforesaid to be the executors of this my last 
will and Testament hereby revoking all other will legacies and bequests 
by me heretofore made. And declaring this and no other to be my last 
will and Testament. In witness whereof I here unto set my hand and seal 
this twelfth day of February A.D. 1807.

his last will and testament. In presence of us who in his presence and 
at his request have subscribed witness.

On the first day of May 1807 before me the subscriber Register for the 
probate of will and granting, letter of administration in and for the 
County aforesaid personally came Henry Haniwatt and Jacob Keith who 
being duly sworn deposeth and saith that they were present & did see 
and hear the within named Adam Keith sign seal publish pronounce and 
declare, the within instrument of writing to be his last will & 
testament and that at the time of such signing he was sound and 
disposing mind. And that they subscribed their names thereto in 
presence of the Testator and at his request and presence of each other.

Memorandum

Letters Testamentary in common form were this day granted to John Keith 
and Adam Redkey of the Estate of Adam Keith of Hopewell Township in the 
County of Huntingdon deceased. Inventory to be exhibited on or before 
the 4th day of July next. And a true account calculation or reconing of 
their administration on or before the 4th day of June 1807 or when 
thereto legally required.  Given under my hand this 11th June 1807.
