Dallas Jay BANKS, 76. of Sierra Vista. Ariz., died Nov. 27, 2001, at his
home. He had been in failing health for over a year. Born May 24, 1925.
in Mapleton, he was a son of the late Jay W. and Margaret (Jamison)
Banks. His wife, the former Betty Louise Stiles, preceded him in death
in November 1992. Surviving are a daughter, Elaine Flexser of Ontario,
Calif., four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One son, Dallas
Jay Banks Jr.. who was stationed in Vietnam, died from Agent Orange.
Three siblings survive in the Huntingdon area: Clarence Banks, the Rev.
Merrill Banks and Lillian Sheasley. Two nieces survive. Mr. Banks served
during World War II and following the war, he worked at Owens Corning
Fiberglas in Huntingdon. In 1956, he moved to Bisbee, Ariz. and worked
at Ft. Huachuca as a painter foreman until he moved to Phoenix, Ariz.,
and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Upon arriving in California
in 1960, he was trained in woodworking and obtained further experience
in exterior and interior painting, cabinet making and furniture
refinishing. This experience enabled him to work for IJniver.sitv
Studios and later Disney Studios. His ability to color was remarkable
and progressed into his own creativity with oil paintings. Mr. Banks
was a Christian man who ministered to those in need. He cared for his
wife, Betty, and assisted with the care of his son. Dallas Jr. A
memorial service was held Dec. 1, in Bisbee. Ariz. Interment will be
made in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Covina, Calif.
