James D. AFRICA, 66, of Parkside Motel, 1310 Harrisburg Ave., Lancaster,
died May 10, 2002, at Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lancaster,
following a brief stay at the hospital. Born, April 21, 1936, in
Huntingdon, he was the son of Anne (Cunningham) Africa of Charlotte,
N.C., formerly of Huntingdon, and the late Elmer Africa. He is survived
by two sons and a daughter: James Henry Africa, Lancaster; Mrs. Ronald
(Kimberly A.) Bates, New Castle, Del.; and Robert J. Africa, Boulder,
Colo. Two grandchildren survive. A brother and a sister survive: John
Africa of Huntingdon and Mrs. James (Sally) Fearn of Florida. Mr. Africa
was a former member of St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. He
attended Juniata College. He was part owner of Peddler's Alley, Park
City, Lancaster, and was also employed at Courtesy Motors,
Elizabethtown. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 15, at 2
p.m. at Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon.
