Lois Jean BEDNARIK, 73, of Dover Road, Boardman, Ohio, died early
Thursday morning, Nov. 20, 2003, at her home following a 15-month battle
with cancer. Born Aug. 29, 1930, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of
Jacob and Golda B. (Duffy) Goss. She moved to Ohio in 1953 and on Feb.
8, 1958, she was united in marriage to John Bednarik. She is survived by
her husband of nearly 46 years; two sisters; June Goss of Mill Creek and
Audrey Flanigan of Huntingdon; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Goss of
Huntingdon and Lydia Lockhart of Poland, Ohio. She is also survived by
many nieces and great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews and a very
special niece, Erma Jean Lanzio. She was preceded in death by five
brothers; Frank, George, Charles, Don and Dick, and three sisters, Orma,
Margaret and Ann. Mrs. Bednarik was of the Methodist faith. She was
employed as a sales clerk at Savadow's in Huntingdon while in high
school. After graduating in June 1948, she was employed by Bell
Telephone in Hollidaysburg for six and one-half years. She was later
employed at the General Electric Lamp Plant in Youngstown, Ohio, as an
inspector for 35 years, retiring in Sept. 1988. Her hobbies included
crossword puzzles, gardening and especially bingo. She loved traveling
with her husband and spent nearly every winter in Florida after her
retirement. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov.
22, at the Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, Youngstown, Ohio.
